Vivo has finally announced its Vivo Xplay 5 Elite at a special event in China. The Chinese tech giant has once again set a benchmark for its competitors by launching world’s first smartphone with 6GB of RAM – the Vivo Xplay5 Elite. At the same event in China, it also launched a more affordable version. These both devices run Android 5.1 Lollipop with Vivo’s custom Funtouch launcher.
The talking point about Vivo Xplay 5 Elite is its RAM. Chances are your laptop doesn’t have 6GB RAM, but now there’s a phone which has a 6GB RAM. Vivo Xplay 5 Elite is the world’s first smartphone to pack with so much of RAM.
World’s First Smartphone with 6GB of RAM
In terms of specifications, Vivo Xplay5 Elite offers Qualcomm’s latest SoC, the Snapdragon 820, clocked at 2.15GHz. The smartphone comes with a 5.43-inch Super AMOLED display with dual-curved edges. Talking about storage specifications, it offers 128 GB internal storage. On the camera front, it comes with the 16MP camera with the same sensor that’s used in the Mi 5 (Sony IMX298) with phase detection autofocus and dual-tone LED flash, 8MP camera at the front. Vivo says that it using a Sony IMX298 sensor and it also has a dual-LED flash.
Vivo Xplay 5 Elite also features a fingerprint scanner at the back and runs Vivo’s Funtouch OS 2.6 atop Marshmallow. On the connectivity front, it offers LTE, Hi-Fi 3.0 (2*ES9028+OPA1612), Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.2, and a 3600mAh battery. Another version of the Xplay is Vivo Xplay5 which features a more standard 4GB RAM.
Vivo Xplay 5 Elite will hit stores on the 8th of March at CNY 4,288 (Rs. 44,300). Vivo has made no public statement of the release of the phone in other global markets yet.
